Internet in Myanmar
About

Our Mission

Internet in Myanmar is an independent technical monitor tracking the Myanmar military junta's systematic censorship of online information since the February 2021 coup.

We document internet shutdowns, website blocking, and connectivity disruptions through a combination of OONI measurement data, independent technical analysis, and investigative journalism. Our reporting serves journalists, researchers, international organizations, and civil society groups that need reliable, technically grounded information on Myanmar's digital environment.

What We Track

  • → Internet shutdowns and partial connectivity restrictions
  • → Website and service blocking across Myanmar ISPs
  • → VPN and circumvention tool blocking
  • → Telecommunications infrastructure and policy changes
  • → Digital surveillance and cybersecurity developments

Our Standards

All technical claims are backed by verifiable data — primarily OONI measurements, Cloudflare Radar, and NetBlocks reports. We do not publish unverified claims. When data is preliminary, we say so. When a situation is evolving, we update articles.
